General truck driving with in-cab skills development and instruction coordinated with the Department of Transportation (DOT). This course includes the required six-hour Defensive Driving course to meet state requirements. Instruction focuses on the operation of tractor-trailer combinations in city and highway environments, emphasizing vehicle control, maneuvering, and safe operation through varied traffic situations and driving conditions using multiple tractor-trailer configurations.

Prerequisites

Must possess a valid Texas Driver License, a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP), a current DOT physical, and successfully pass a DOT drug test no sooner than one week prior to class start.
