Course Description

This linked course is a study of refining, mechanical, and physical properties of ferrous and nonferrous materials including the theory of alloys, heat treatment, and testing. You will learn to define the physical and mechanical properties of ferrous and non-ferrous metals; describe the steel making process; describe methods of destructive and nondestructive testing; explain the effects of hot working, cold working, welding, machining, and heat treating on metal properties; define metallurgical terms and processes; and recognize defects and their causes.
