Course Description

The 40 Hour Course provides basic understanding and knowledge of a new hire at safe operations of a commercial uninspected vessel. Topics covered in this course: Federal Law/USCG boating regulations, Texas Water Safety Act, vessel inspections, PPE, basic mechanical/electrical operations & maintenance, launching a workboat/skiff, driving a workboat/skiff, and vessel stowage.

Learner Outcomes

Course will have achieved following learning objectives:

  1. Identify Federal law/USCG policies for uninspected vessels.
  2. Recognize regulations of Texas Water Safety Act.
  3. Utilize appropriate PPE.
  4. Perform Pre-job and Post-job plans, assessments and inspections.
  5. Demonstrate Navigation and Seamanship for uninspected vessel operators.
  6. Understand basic mechanical/electrical equipment associate with an inspected vessel.
