Course Description

Prerequisite: NCCER CORE

Signal persons are a crane operators eyes and ears on the ground. Their signals and communications with the operator are crucial in preventing crane accidents. While crane operators should never work without a qualified person, it is required when the point of operation is not in full view of the operator, the operators view is obstructed in the direction the equipment is traveling or the operator or the person handling the load determines that a signal person is needed because of site specific safety concerns.
