Course Description

Prerequisite: 540 days seatime

Note: It shall be the policy of this school that all students provide appropriate photo identification upon enrollment.

This course provides training to mariners seeking a license as Apprentice Mate (Steersman) of Towing Vessels on Western Rivers provided they have successfully completed our Apprentice Mate (Steersman) Upgrade (33) course or hold a license as Apprentice Mate (Steersman) Near Coastal or Inland or have satisfied the examination requirements for a license as Apprentice Mate (Steersman) Near Coastal or Inland within the previous 12 months. Candidates need not be approved by the U.S. Coast Guard prior to participating in this course. However, a photo ID is required IAW; Pursuant to National Maritime Center Policy Letter 11-02.
