Course Description

ONLINE CURRICULUM BEGINS May 9 to July 8, 2022.

This is the first course in the Process Safety Certificate Program and is a prerequisite for the other courses in the certificate program.  This course provides an overview of process safety programs for industrial settings. Suitable for operators, engineers, and management.  This introductory level course will be delivered in a hybrid format with 24 hours of online instruction and 24 hours of lab time. The lab days will be scheduled as one 8-hour day per per month.

Lab dates are the following three Fridays for the Spring 2022 offering:

#1:  May 27, 2022 (Participants will run the CPET glycol processing unit in addition to completing a pre-safety startup review (PSSR) and a PSM audit exercise with safeguard evaluation)

#2:  June 10, 2022 (Participants will complete a Hazard Analysis (PHA) on the glycol unit)

#3:  June 24, 2022 (Participants will complete an incident investigation exercise)

No textbook is required.  Participants must have access to a computer with an internet connection and a printer.
