Course Description

Requirements: Java SE (Standard Edition) Development Kit (JDK) Version 5 or later, from Sun Microsystems (software must be installed and fully operational before the course begins) Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X, or Linux. Introduction to Java Programming Note: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X, or Linux. You will also need a working copy of the most recent versions of the Java Development Kit (JDK) and BlueJ (free downloads). Download and installation instructions are available in Lesson 4. Introduction to XML Requirements: Microsoft's free Visual Studio Express with Update 3 for Windows Desktop 2013 or 2012 versions, and Windows XP, Windows Vista, 7, or 8. You'll install this Visual Studio Express software during Lesson 1. (Students using Visual Studio 2010 for pre-Windows 7 computers will be supported in the Discussion Areas.) Note: This course is not suitable for Macintosh users unless you have a Windows emulator such as Parallels installed to run the Windows OS on your Mac OS X machine. Even if you've never written a single line of programming code, the courses in this bundle will teach you to create many practical and sophisticated computer programs using both Java and XML.
